Fires broke out at two factories in Pakistan Tuesday, killing at least 37 people.
In the eastern city of Lahore, more than 23 people died after being trapped inside a shoe factory. Local officials say the blaze was caused by a faulty generator.
It took fire crews several hours to bring the fire under control and rescue workers inside the burning building.
The second blaze Tuesday started in a garment factory in the southern port city of Karachi. At least 14 people were killed and more than 20 others were wounded.
Witnesses say several people jumped from windows to escape the fire. A cause of the blaze is not immediately known.
Karachi is Pakistan's most populous city and its commercial hub.
