U.S. President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger for the White House, Mitt Romney, are set to return to their regular campaigning on Wednesday.

Both presidental candidates took a break from their usual media attacks and negative comments Tuesday, in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Mr. Obama will be in Las Vegas, Nevada, while Mr. Romney will be in Florida where his wife, Ann, will lead a campaign rally near Tampa. Former U.S. president Bill Clinton will be in Florida, campaigning for Mr. Obama in Orlando.

Two new polls among likely voters show the president enjoying a post-Democratic National Convention bounce in popularity.

A survey by ABC News and The Washington Post give Mr. Obama a 50 to 44 percent lead over Mr. Romney, while CNN and ORC International give the president a 52 to 46 percent advantage.

The polls were much closer after the Republican convention and before the Democratic convention.
