The death toll from devastating factory fires in two Pakistani cities Tuesday has risen to more than 310.
A Pakistani official says 289 people have died from the blaze that ripped through a garment factory in the southern port city of Karachi. The search continues at the charred building for more bodies.
The cause of that blaze is under investigation. Police say they are searching for the factory's owners.
In the eastern city of Lahore, at least 25 people died after being trapped inside a shoe factory. Officials say the blaze was caused by a faulty generator.
The incidents have again raised concerns about workplace safety in Pakistan.
Following the Karachi fire, ministers in Sindh province ordered inspections for all factories in the province. Karachi is Pakistan's most populous city and its commercial hub.
