Officials in northern Pakistan say a roadside bomb blast has hit a van, killing at least 12 people.

Authorities say seven passengers were wounded in the explosion Sunday in the Lower Dir tribal area near the Afghan border.

Lower Dir has been the site of bomb and gun attacks from across the border from local Islamist militants.
