Officials in Nepal say an airplane carrying 19 people has crashed.

They say the plane crashed Friday morning shortly after taking off from Kathmandu airport.

Police officials say the 16 passengers and three crew members are feared dead.

The Sita Air plane was headed to Lukla in the Mount Everest region, small town in Nepal that is popular with mountain climbers and trekkers.
