U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has expressed deep disappointment at the failure of an effort to establish a cease-fire in Syria during the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday.
During a speech Monday in South Korea, Mr. Ban called on the international community to do more to help stop the fighting.
He said that as long as there are international divisions, the suffering of the Syrian people will only grow.
Both Syrian government forces and rebels opposed to President Bashar al-Assad have violated the truce brokered by U.N.-Arab League envoy Lakhdar Brahimi.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 110 Syrians were killed in fighting Sunday, on the third day of what was to be a four-day cease-fire.
Brahimi is in Moscow for talks Monday with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
