Buckingham Palace announced Thursday that Queen Elizabeth will celebrate her 60 years on the throne next year with events including street parties and a 1,000-boat flotilla along London's Thames River led by the queen on a royal barge.

The four-day Diamond Jubilee celebration from June 2 to June 5, 2012, will also feature a carriage procession, a concert at Buckingham Palace and a church service of thanksgiving.

In addition, the queen, who is a huge horse-racing fan, will attend Britain's Epsom Derby horse race.

The 85-year-old Elizabeth became queen when her father, King George VI, died in 1952. She will be Britain's second-longest reigning monarch after Queen Victoria, who was on the throne for 63 years.
