Witnesses in Somalia say at least three people have been killed during a second day of protests in Mogadishu, where hundreds gathered to show their support for Prime Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed.

Security officials say demonstrators attacked two hotels used by Somali lawmakers on Friday, setting one ablaze.

Witnesses say soldiers shot a teenage protestor and that one soldier was killed. A hotel staffer also died when he jumped from the hotel to escape the fire.

The demonstrators were protesting against the so-called Kampala Accord. It extends the government's term by one year but calls for the country's popular prime minister to resign within 30 days.

Prime Minister Mohamed is popular with many Somalis because he has worked to fight corruption and ensure that soldiers and government workers receive their pay.

Somalia has not had a functioning central government for 20 years.
