The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat 105-95 in the sixth game of the NBA finals on Sunday night to win their first ever National Basketball Association championship.
Series MVP Dirk Nowitzki fought through illness and a tough shooting night to score 21 points and grab 11 rebounds in the Dallas victory. Ten of Nowitzki's points came in the fourth quarter, shutting down Miami's comeback attempt. Jason Terry also scored 27 points for the Mavericks.
Lebron James scored 19 points and Chris Bosh contributed 19 for the Heat, which many considered the favorites going into the playoffs. The Heat won two of the first three games before the Mavericks stormed back to take the series four games to two.
