Police say they have arrested 14 people from across Indonesia who are suspected in a plot to insert cyanide into food and water at police canteens.

A spokesman said Monday the suspects were rounded up in a four-day operation that ended Sunday. He said the group previously killed two policemen who were guarding a bank in Central Sulawesi province.

The spokesman said police learned of the cyanide plot during interrogation of the suspects. He described it as a “new model of terrorist attack.”

The suspects were arrested in Central Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, Central Java, West Java and Jakarta. The arrests come as international political and business leaders met in Jakarta for a World Economic Forum.
