U.S. President Barack Obama plans to host one of his fiercest political rivals, Republican Congressman John Boehner, for a round of golf on Saturday.

The White House has not disclosed the course where Mr. Obama will compete against Boehner, the speaker of the House of Representatives. But White House spokesman Jay Carney said there will be press access.

Carney said he had no idea if a score will be released. Boehner is known to be a much better golfer than the president, who plays regularly.

Carney also said the two rivals may be better able to work together politically after sharing a relaxing afternoon with each other. He said he expects they will discuss important issues that must be dealt with by the Obama administration and Congress, but does not anticipate a detailed report of their conversation.

Mr. Obama's playing partner will be Vice President Joe Biden. Boehner's partner will be the Republican governor of the speaker's home state of Ohio, John Kasich.

The golf outing will take place on the same day one of the major men's professional golf tournaments, the U.S. Open, will be in its third round on a course just outside Washington in Maryland.
