An actor impersonating U.S. President Barack Obama was ushered off the stage at a Republican gathering after making a series of insulting jokes.
Reggie Brown's routine Saturday at the Republican Leadership Conference in the southern city of New Orleans was cut short after he mocked Mr. Obama's biracial heritage and some of the Republican candidates running for president.
The actor, who is African-American, told a crowd in a hotel ballroom that Mr. Obama's father was from Kenya and his mother was a white woman from Kansas. Brown joked that he celebrates half of Black History Month, an annual observance in the United States.
Brown also brought up debunked claims that Mr. Obama was not born in the U.S. The impersonator joked that he was born in the U.S. Pacific state of Hawaii, or as members of the conservative Tea Party movement call it, “Kenya.”
In April, the White House released the president's long-form birth certificate, showing Mr. Obama was born in 1961 in Hawaii. Critics accused Mr. Obama of not providing adequate proof he was a natural born citizen, and therefore eligible for the presidency.
Brown also showed lewd photos of former Democratic U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner , who resigned on Thursday after becoming immersed in an Internet sex scandal.
Weiner admitted to exchanging explicit photographs and messages with at least six women on the Internet during the past three years.
