Asian stock markets closed mostly higher Tuesday.

Tokyo's Nikkei index gained one and one-tenth of a percent to finish at 9,460.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index also rose one and one-tenth of a percent to finish the day's trading at 21,851.

Share prices were higher in Shanghai, Sydney, Taipei and Manila, but lower in Wellington.

In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 80.19 yen, a slight drop from Monday's closing figures.
