Authorities in Nigeria have imposed new security measures in the capital, Abuja, following a deadly bomb attack at the national police headquarters.
City administrators announced the security measures for a range of popular gathering places in a statement Wednesday.
Nightclubs, beer gardens and cinemas in Abuja are now required to close by 10 p.m. Places where children gather, including parks and gardens, are required to close by 6 p.m.
Authorities also banned parking on two major roads where many government offices are located.
Abuja officials say the measures are necessary to ensure security and the protection of government property.
On June 16, a bomb attack outside Nigerian police headquarters killed two people and damaged dozens of cars. The radical Islamist group Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the blast.
Authorities blame Boko Haram for a string of deadly attacks, mostly in the northern state of Borno, targeting police officers, government officials and clerics.
The group wants the government to impose strict Islamic law across the north.
