Israeli soldiers have killed a Palestinian man near the West Bank town of Nablus while security forces carried out a raid in a refugee camp.

The Israeli military said Wednesday soldiers shot the man in the legs when he tried to avoid arrest.

The man's uncle told the Reuters news agency he was on his way to morning prayers at the time of the shooting.

Meanwhile, Israeli jets on Wednesday launched airstrikes against two suspected weapons sites in the Gaza Strip.

The bombings wounded a Palestinian woman, and Israel said the strikes were in response to a series of rockets fired from Gaza into southern Israel.

No one was hurt in the rocket attacks.
