Protesters in Nigeria broke into a Shell oil facility in the southern Niger delta demanding the company improve electrical supplies in their communities.
Thursday's demonstration by members of four local communities occurred at the Kolo Creek logistics base in Bayelsa state.
The demonstrators accuse Shell of breaching an agreement to provide electricity and roads to the villages of Imiringi, Elebele, Otuasega and Oruma.
Shell officials say they are engaging the demonstrators who they say have damaged the facility in a manner that posed a threat to people and the environment.
The company says it has been delivering electricity to the communities in line with the 1999 agreement.
It said that the communities have since expanded and the demand for power has exceeded capacity.
