Iran's Revolutionary Guard on Friday refuted a report from state media earlier this week that it shot down an unmanned U.S. spy plane .
Instead, the Guard said in a statement that its air defenses hit a test target flying over a uranium enrichment site.
The Guard reports contradicts a claim by an Iranian lawmaker saying the country's elite military group downed a U.S. aircraft as it was attempting to collect information about Iran's nuclear program.
Iran's state TV-run Youth Journalists Club on Wednesday quoted MP Ali Aghazedah Dafsari as saying the aircraft was flying near the Fordu site around the holy city of Qom.
The report did not say when the Revolutionary Guard shot down the plane.
U.S. intelligence and military officials told VOA on Wednesday that the U.S. rejects the claim and has not lost a drone.
