Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says he will seek another six-year presidential term in 2012.

In an interview published Monday in the state newspaper Correo del Orinoco, President Chavez said he will seek “with more strength than before” his reelection to the presidency, despite his recent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor followed by chemotherapy.

Mr. Chavez returned Saturday to Venezuela a week after leaving for chemotherapy in Cuba.

Upon his return, Mr. Chavez pronounced, “I returned in better condition than when I left.”
