Italy's Senate voted Wednesday to continue funding for military missions in Afghanistan and Libya, and for the peace-keeping operation in Lebanon.
However, Italy plans to cut its troop strength in Lebanon and Libya.
Some allies of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's coalition have been critical of the missions, but voted to back the extension in a show of support for Mr. Berlusconi.
The legislation must still pass a vote in the lower house Chamber of Deputies before it can be enacted.
