The Israeli military says at least 25 people have been wounded in a series of attacks in southern Israel.

The military said that in one incident attackers opened fire on a bus Thursday as it was traveling from the town of Beersheba to Eilat on a highway that runs along the Egyptian border.

A military spokesman said the wounded include civilians and soldiers, and that the attacks are part of what he called a “grave and complex event.”

No other details were immediately available.
