Asian stock markets closed mostly lower Monday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index dropped one percent to close at 8,628.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up half a percent to end at 19,487.
Elsewhere, share prices were lower in Shanghai, Taipei, Seoul, Sydney, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta and Manila. Markets closed higher in Mumbai and Wellington.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 76.81 yen, up one-quarter yen from late Friday.
Gold was trading at $1,879.66 an ounce.
