A massive explosion has rocked the United Nations building in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, killing at least seven people.

Medical workers and witnesses at the scene say rescuers rushed to pull survivors and bodies from the rubble.

The United Nations has confirmed that a bomb caused the explosion on Friday morning.

The site is near several diplomatic buildings, including the U.S. embassy.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
