Tanzanian authorities say hundreds of people are missing after an overloaded ferry sank near Zanzibar.

They say the ferry was carrying 600 people from Zanzibar to Pemba Island on Saturday when it capsized and sank.

At least 250 people have been rescued so far and several bodies have been recovered.

Authorities are searching for more survivors.
