NATO says coalition and Afghan forces have carried out an airstrike in Zabul province, killing “numerous” insurgents. The international alliance did not give a specific number for the militant deaths.
The coalition said Friday two suspected insurgents were detained in the operation.
NATO has been embroiled in a decade-long war against the Taliban and affiliated insurgents.
NATO is training Afghan forces so that they can assume full security responsibilities by the end of 2014, when the alliance is scheduled to withdraw its troops.
