U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is on the resort island of Bali for talks with his Indonesian counterpart and other regional defense ministers .
Officials say Panetta and Indonesian Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro will discuss the two countries' growing military relations, as well as human rights reforms in the Indonesian military.
Washington cut military relations with Jakarta for more than a decade over human rights abuses by Indonesia's Kopassus, or special forces, in the 1990s.
While in Indonesia, Panetta will also address regional defense ministers on the issues of China's expanding military strength, North Korea's nuclear program and other topics. He will also visit Japan and South Korea.
