Afghan officials say a suicide truck bomb blast outside a NATO base has killed at least one person and wounded more than 70 others.
Authorities say the truck driver was stopped Friday morning before he could enter the base in the Muhammad Agha district of Logar province.
The bomber then detonated a trailer full of explosives, killing an Afghan carpenter who worked at the base. At least three Afghan security personnel and two intelligence officials were among those wounded.
Police say the huge blast destroyed several nearby government buildings.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for Friday's attack.
The suicide blast comes as NATO forces continue to transfer security control of parts of Afghanistan to local forces, ahead of the withdrawal of all international combat troops by the end of 2014.
