Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping, on the second day of his visit to Ireland, stated China's commitment to Europe, and repeated that Beijing is considering more investment to help stabilize the embattled euro.
In talks with Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny Sunday evening, Mr. Xi said China supports the stability of the euro and the eurozone.
Mr. Kenny said Ireland is willing to build closer relations with China, and hopes for more cooperation in trade, investment, education, agriculture and tourism.
Also on Sunday, Japanese Finance Minister Jun Azumi met in Beijing with Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan to discuss bilateral financial cooperation and coordinate their stances on aid to Europe to help address its debt crisis.
The two agreed to jointly respond to any funding request from the International Monetary Fund, which is considering more than doubling its funding to help countries deal with the eurozone crisis.
