Officials in southwest Pakistan say gunmen have shot and killed seven Shiite Muslims in two incidents in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province.

Authorities say gunmen on a motorcycle opened fired on a taxi, killing at least five Shiites.

Later, gunmen killed two Shiites.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks.

Pakistan has a Sunni Muslim majority, and although most Sunnis and Shi'ites coexist peacefully, extremists often target members of each community.
