Officials in southern Afghanistan say Afghan security forces have killed two would-be suicide attackers.

Authorities say the assailants entered the provincial governor's compound Saturday in Kandahar.

Officials say two of the governor's bodyguards were killed in the exchange of gunfire with the attackers.

The Taliban is reported to have claimed responsibility for the attack.
