A Ukrainian court has ordered a medical examination for former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, and set a hearing in her tax evasion case for July 10.
The Kharkiv court Monday said it must be determined if the former leader is fit to stand trial. Tymoshenko is currently hospitalized due to back problems.
Tymoshenko is charged with evading taxes while heading Ukraine's United Energy Systems during the 1990s.
She is already serving a seven year prison sentence for abuse of power while in office — charges she and her supporters, along with the EU and the United States, say were politically motivated.
