Tropical Storm Debby made landfall on Tuesday near the Florida Gulf Coast town of Steinhatchee.
Tropical storm warnings are posted for a large stretch of the Florida coast along the Gulf of Mexico. Heavy rain and possibly tornadoes can be expected.
Forecasters predict Debby will weaken into a tropical depression as it crosses central Florida toward the Atlantic Ocean.
The storm already has dumped some 25 centimeters of rain along the Florida-Georgia border, with some towns receiving more than 66 centimeters of rain in three days.
