Positive Turnaround for Japan’s Nikkei

Japanese markets closed higher Wednesday, while the U.S. dollar is lower against the Japanese yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index gained just over two percent to finish at 8,763. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 77.19 yen, a loss of nearly half a yen from Tuesday. Gold is trading at $1,840.53 an ounce.

Japanese markets closed lower Tuesday, while the U.S. dollar is trading higher against the Japanese yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index lost nearly two and one-quarter percent to finish at 8,591. The dollar was selling at 77.20 yen, a gain of more than one-quarter of a yen from Monday. Gold is trading at $1,893.85 an ounce.
