Tokyo Markets Up, Dollar Down

Japanese share prices ended higher Monday, while the dollar rose against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index rose 1.9 percent to close at 8,844. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 76.20 yen, down slightly from late Friday. Gold was trading at $1,646.93 an ounce.

Japanese share prices ended higher Monday, while the dollar rose against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index rose 1.9 percent to close at 8,844. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 76.33 yen, up slightly from late Friday. The Taipei market jumped 3 percent to close at 7,470.
