European stock markets were lower in midday trading Monday. London’s Financial Times 100 index was down three-tenths of a percent , to 5,918. The CAC-40 in Paris lost half a percent , to 3,824. Tokyo Markets, Dollar Lower

Japanese share prices ended lower Monday, while the dollar slipped against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped eight-tenths of a percent to close at 10,050. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 78.16 yen, down four-tenths of a yen from late Friday. Gold was trading at $1,619.38 an ounce.

Japanese share prices ended lower Monday, while the dollar slipped against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped eight-tenths of a percent , to close at 10,050. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 78.48 yen, down slightly from late Friday. The Taipei market lost nine-tenths of a percent , to close at 8,684.
