Japan’s Nikkei Posts Loss

Japanese markets closed lower Tuesday, while the U.S. dollar is trading lower against the Japanese yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index lost just over one and one-half percent to finish at 8,742. The dollar was selling at 76.74 yen, a loss of a fraction of a yen from Monday. Gold is trading at $1,656.00 an ounce.

Asian stock markets closed lower Tuesday. Tokyo’s Nikkei index lost just over one and one-half percent to finish at 8,742. Japanese markets closed lower Tuesday, while the U.S. dollar is unchanged in trading against the Japanese yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index lost just over one and one-half percent to finish at 8,742. The dollar was selling at 76.83 yen. The Taipei market closed at 7,359, a loss of over one and one-quarter percent .

Asian stock markets closed higher Monday. Tokyo’s Nikkei index rose 1.5 percent to close at 8,880. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index jumped 2 percent to end at 18,874. Tokyo Stocks, Dollar Up

Japanese share prices ended higher Monday, while the dollar gained against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index rose 1.5 percent to close at 8,880. The dollar was selling at 77.40 yen in currency trading, up two-tenths of a yen from late Friday. Gold was trading at $1,694.19 an ounce.
