Tokyo Markets Closed, Dollar Unchanged

Tokyo markets were closed Monday for a national holiday , while the dollar was stable against the yen. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 76.74 yen, up a fraction from late Friday. The Taipei market rose 1.12 percent , to close at 7,212.

Asian stock markets closed higher Friday. Tokyo’s Nikkei index gained one percent , to close at 8,605. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index climbed 3.11 percent , to end at 17,707. Japanese share prices ended higher Friday, while the dollar slipped against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index gained one percent , to close at 8,605. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 76.67 yen, down slightly from late Thursday. Gold was selling at $1,652.80 an ounce.

Japanese share prices ended higher Friday, while the dollar slipped against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index gained one percent , to close at 8,605. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 76.65 yen, down slightly from late Thursday. The Taipei market rose 1.12 percent , to close at 7,212.
