Asian stock markets closed mostly lower Monday. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped eight-tenths of a percent to close at 10,050. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell seven-tenths of a percent to end at 22,293. Japanese share prices ended lower Monday, while the dollar slipped against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped eight-tenths of a percent to close at 10,050. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 78.16 yen, down four-tenths of a yen from late Friday. Gold was trading at $1,619.38 an ounce.

Japanese share prices ended lower Monday, while the dollar slipped against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped eight-tenths of a percent , to close at 10,050. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 78.48 yen, down slightly from late Friday. The Taipei market lost nine-tenths of a percent , to close at 8,684.
