Asian stock markets were higher in trading Monday. Tokyo’s Nikkei index rose 1.9 percent to close at 8,844. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index jumped 4.13 percent to end at 18,771. Tokyo Stocks, Dollar Up

Japanese share prices ended higher Monday, while the dollar rose against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index rose 1.9 percent to close at 8,844. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 76.33 yen, up slightly from late Friday. The Taipei market jumped 3 percent to close at 7,470.
