Officials in northeast India say fighting has erupted between indigenous tribes and Muslim settlers, killing at least 17 people. Authorities say tens of thousands of villagers have fled their homes to escape the clashes in the Kokrajhar district in Assam state. Local officials say 30,000 people have sought protection from the violence in relief camps.
