The specter of Ebola is swirling around the first few days of the Nations Cup tournament.
Equatorial Guinea stepped in as last minute host only nine weeks before the tournament kicked off. Morocco, which was scheduled to host the event, wanted the competition postponed because of Ebola fears.
Guinea has been one of the countries hardest hit by Ebola, with more than 1,800 deaths reported. Before his team’s opening match against Ivory Coast, Guinea’s coach, Michel Dussuyer, told reporters that he wasn’t that worried about it.
