(We hope you didn’t miss the vice presidential candidates’ debate.) Our panel of international students discussed the debate and issues important to them and you! The best reactions and most interesting moments have been captured here.

Again, thank you all for joining us. We’re live from downtown DC (where the wifi is less than stellar)!
Will Hillary and Trump shake hands???
Nope! After a heated news weekend, the two candidates did not shake hands to begin this debate. Lets see where this goes.
Anderson Cooper brings up the video where Trump said vulgar things about women. Trump continues to call it ‘locker room talk’ and that he respects women.
Busboys and Poets breaks out into HOWLING laughter when Donald Trump says he respects women more than anyone.
Hillary gets a round of applause after talking about Trump’s comments.
The international student panel laughs when Trump says he will help Latinos.
It seems that Donald Trump is nervous with shaky legs during this debate.
The crowd groans when Trump calls it locker room talk.
Trump now goes after Bill Clinton for being abusive to women, and after Hillary for attacking women.
“When they go low, you go high.” Clinton references Michelle Obama in regards to Trump’s comments.
And Trump just called Hillary the devil, specifically “Bernie Sanders signed on with the devil.”
Everyone at Busboys LOSES IT when Trump says “Because you’d be in jail.” One loud OHHHHHHHH.
Donald Trump says if he wins and becomes the President of the United States he will hire a special prosecutor to look into Hillary Clinton‘s emails.
Moderators have to keep asking the audience to stop cheering during this debate.
“Please allow her to respond. She didn’t talk when you talked.” Anderson to Donald.
Hillary Clinton in response to her private email server, “I want everyone to hear it: That was a mistake and I take responsibility”
Now on the issue of The Affordable Care Act. Clinton wants to keep what has been working from it and fix what is broken by keeping costs low and quality high. While Trump wants to repeal it and replace it.
Trump bringing up those “lines around the states” again. Flashback to primary season.

Moderator Marta Raddatz asks, “Can you please explain if the ban on Muslims still stands?” Trump responds with “extreme vetting.”
Trump says that Capt. Khan would still be alive today if he was the president.
Busboys and Poets erupts in “WHAT”
Trump calls Clinton out for going over time.
Trump says that he was against the war in Iraq. Politifact says that is FALSE.
Now the two candidates are tackling this question: Is it okay for politicians to be two-faced? Is okay for politicians to have private opinions on issues? from a viewer in Virginia. Clinton defends her quote and says it was about Lincoln and how he passed the 13th amendment. Trump says, “Honest Abe never lied, that is the big difference between you [points to Hillary] and Lincoln.”

“Under our Constitution, the President has something called the veto power.”
Clinton going at Trump with some basic government facts.
Raddatz says “Mr. Trump. We’re going to move on.” Audience here cheers her on.
The debate moves from taxes to Syrian humanitarian crisis.
Russia has been a HUGE topic in this debate.
“He and I haven’t spoken and I disagree.” Trump says this about Pence’s plans on Syria and the humanitarian crisis.
Everyone in the place looks at each-other in absolute shock.

“Do you believe you can be a devoted President to all the people in the United States?” Takes only about 10 seconds after saying yes that Trump goes into NAFTA and how it is worst trade agreement signed by Bill Clinton. He slowly goes back to mention latinos, education, and taxes. Hillary Clinton brings in the statistics that 67% of the people to re-elect her and quickly into her 30-year long career as being a public servant.
Clinton says “If you don’t vote for me- I still want to be your president.”
Trump brings up how effective Twitter has been as a form of communication during this presidential election.
Beth Miller, an audience member brings up SCOTUS. Hillary wants a Supreme Court that will uphold Roe v. Wade and doesn’t always side with corporate interests. She is upset with the Senate’s behavior of not allowing a vote on Obama’s choice of Merrick Garland. Trump is just stating facts about the Supreme Court and says he as a lot of judges in mind that are regarded by a lot of people, he says.

One of the last questions of the night is about the candidate’s energy policies and U.S. energy needs. Trump says he will bring our energy companies back to the U.S. to help stimulate jobs and the economy. Clinton responds by saying that the U.S. is energy independent and that we should continue to be independent from the Middle East. Clinton wants to move towards more clean and renewable energy.
Everyone claps and laughs at the last question about what the candidates respect about each-other.
Clinton says “I respect his children.”
Trump says he respects that Clinton “Doesn’t give up” and “Doesn’t quit.”
Final question of the night: “Would you name a positive thing about one another?” The crowd in St. Louis laughs. Hillary Clinton respects Trump’s children and how successful they are since that is reflective of him. Trump consider’s Hillary’s comment a compliment. He calls Hillary a fighter and that she doesn’t quit or give up. He considers it a very good trait.
