Facebook Launches Suicide Prevention Tools for 148 Million Indian Users
India leads the world with depression rates and has more suicides than any other country, according to the World Health Organization. Mental illness topics remain taboo in that country and in other developing parts of the world. Facebook’s new tools help nudge users who might have suicidal inclinations to reach out to support organizations or friends.
Underground Market Selling Details of Compromised Servers in 173 Countries
Researchers at Internet security firm Kaspersky Lab have uncovered a Russian underground marketplace that is selling data stored on more than 70,600 compromised servers in 173 countries. The servers belong to both private and government networks in Singapore, China, Malaysia, Australia and many other countries. And if that wasn’t enough, cybercriminals are selling access to the servers for $6.
Facebook Exec Suggests ‘Decline of Text’ Could Lead to ‘All-video’ News Feed
Videos are very popular on the Internet, but now Facebook’s vice president in Europe, Nicola Mendelsohn, says the mount of text showing up on news feeds is declining. She said video content is increasing far more rapidly than Facebook anticipated, and he predicted the content will be all-video within the next decade.
