Attracted by its infrastructure and tech-favorable environment, more IT companies are flocking to Lithuania to set up shop there. Lithuania is home to 13 of the Baltic region’s 20 biggest IT firms; and its population ranks 16th in the world for their Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills.
Facebook Sued in US Court for Blocking Page in India
A California-based Sikh non-profit is suing Facebook for blocking its pages in India. The country’s government has requested that social media sites block content it deems conducive to religious or political discord. The Sikh group has charged Facebook with violating civil rights and practicing discrimination.
Europe Android Phone Ownership Drops Considerably
According to recent figures from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, Android phone ownership, which is gaining in the U.S., has dropped to a 70.5 percent market share in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain – a 2.3 percent drop from last year. The advantage went to Apple’s iOS, which gained 2.2 percent.
It’s the Beginning of the End for Google+
Google+ announcements were noticeably missing from Google’s recent I/O developer conference. While the tech giant claims Google+ is still alive, writer David Curry argues that out of the social service’s millions of followers, only a small number is active. Among other things, he faults Google’s “overbearing attitude” that forced the Google+ profile instead of the YouTube account on users.
