Russian Hacker Claims to Be Selling Millions of Twitter Accounts
A Russian hacker known as Tessa88 allegedly is in possession of the email addresses, passwords and usernames of 379 million Twitter accounts – more than 10 percent of Twitter’s monthly active users. Breach notification website LeakedSource received the database from the seller.
Internet Oversight Transfer by US Could Face New Hurdles
Two new bills in Congress now require the U.S. government to seek congressional approval before transferring oversight of key Internet functions to an international multi-stakeholder governance model. At the moment, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a non-profit organization, coordinates the Internet’s Domain Name System (DNS) and IP addressing protocols.
Research Finds More Corporate Shared Folders in Cloud Filled With Malware
A recent study from cloud security company Netskope found that 11 percent of cloud apps approved by the companies that host them contain malware. The study, covering the first three months of 2016, said the number more than doubled, compared to data from the previous quarter. The finding included several varieties of malicious software in addition to mobile malware.
