In the wake of the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, Americans are once again embroiled in a heated debate about guns.
One one side are those that would like to see stricter rules for owning guns, and on the other are those who site the Second Amendment of the Constitution, which states “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Of course, there are many Americans who find themselves somewhere in the middle or undecided about how they feel about guns. Many of them are researching guns, and Google Trends has revealed what Americans are Googling.
According to Google, search interest in “gun control” has been searched for more than “gun rights” across the United States during the past week.
According to Google, these are the most common gun-related search terms during the past week.
During the past year, Google says users in more states searched for “gun shop” than “gun control,” but since the school shooting, there have been many more searches for “gun control” than “gun shop.”
While interest in guns and gun control is high for the time being, if the past is any indication, interest will slowly fade until there is another shooting.
