A cloud of ash from an erupting volcano in Chile is disrupting air traffic over New Zealand.

Australia's national carrier, Qantas Airways, says it has canceled 22 flights to and from New Zealand and eight flights within New Zealand's South Island.

Australian budget carrier, Jetstar, says it has canceled domestic flights to South Island airports.

National carrier Air New Zealand did not cancel or delay any flights, but has adjusted flight routes and altitudes to ensure aircraft remain clear of any ash.

The eruptions have already prompted the cancelation of several flights across South America.
