The Guinness Book of World Records has declared a Filipino as the world's shortest man.
Guinness says Junrey Balawing, who turned 18 Sunday, measures just under 60 centimeters. He edges out Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal, who is a “towering” 67 centimeters tall.
The announcement was made in Zamboanga del Norte's remote Sindagan township in the southern Philippines. Balawing blew out a candle on a birthday cake and was presented with gifts, including cash.
Balawing thanked a crowd of villagers and reporters, and posed for pictures.
