A special security tribunal in Bahrain has started trials for at least 34 medical professionals accused of attempting to overthrow the kingdom’s rulers. Asian stock markets closed mostly lower Monday. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped seven-tenths of a percent to close at 9,448. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose four-tenths percent to end at 22,508. Japanese share prices ended lower Monday, while the dollar rose against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped seven-tenths of a percent to close at 9,448. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 80.38 yen, up slightly from late Friday. Gold was trading at $1,527.59 an ounce.
