U.S. stock market indexes soared in Monday's trading, the third session of strong gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 1.9 percent to end at 11,483. The S&P 500 rose 2.2 percent to hit 1,204 and the NASDAQ gained 1.9 percent to close at 2,555.
European stock markets were higher at the close of trading. London's Financial Times 100 index gained six-tenths of a percent to end at 5,351. The CAC-40 in Paris moved up eight-tenths of a percent to close at 3,239 and the DAX in Frankfurt jumped four-tenths of a percent to reach 6,022.
Earlier in Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index rose 1.4 percent , to close at 9,086. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index jumped 3.3 percent , to end at 20,260.
The price of gold gained nearly $17 to trade at $1,763.63 an ounce.
The dollar was up against the yen but lost value compared to the euro.
