Armed men have killed one British national and kidnapped another in northern Kenya, near the border with Somalia.
Britain's Foreign Office says the attack occurred Sunday at a beach resort north of Lamu, an island off the Kenyan coast. The office is advising British nationals not to go with 30 kilometers of the Kenyan-Somali border.
There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack, and no word on the identity of the victims.
Much of southern Somalia is controlled by Islamist militants fighting the Somali government.
The British Foreign Office notes that Somali militia have carried out attacks in Kenya in the past, kidnapping three aid workers in July 2009 and two Western nuns in November 2008.
